Get ready to make some noise and learn about African American history in a whole new way! Joan Brannon of Drumming Works will lead an exciting, interactive drumming session that blends the rhythms of traditional West African drumming with the rich history and culture of African Americans right here in Kentucky. Filled with music, movement, and stories, this lively performance will have everyone clapping, tapping, and reflecting on the power of community and culture.


ABOUT JOAN BRANNON   Website
Joan Brannon is a skilled percussionist and educator with 20 years of experience. She founded the drumming collectives Sisters of the Sacred Drum and the Sacred Drum Ensemble. Joan teaches drumming empowerment classes for youth, leads women’s enrichment circles, and facilitates workshops to bring the transformative power of percussion to communities. She has performed across the U.S. and in Guinea, West Africa. Joan respects the drum as a sacred instrument for celebration, communication, empowerment, and building community
