Play on our gaming laptops and consoles, explore the world of virtual reality, create your own art projects, tinker with a variety of technology and engineering tools, get your game on with an assortment of board and card games, and share the experience with your friends. Join us to help your little one start their early-learning adventure! Toddler Storytime for ages 0 to 2 is designed to help lay the foundation for lifelong learning through a combination of stories, songs, and play.

Children learn language by listening to others talk, and stories and songs help them learn how language sounds, add new words to their growing vocabulary, and begin to understand what words mean. Play helps children express themselves and put thoughts into words as they explore the world around them and build early social skills through interactions with other children.

Join us on Thursdays to create an active routine and meaningful social interactions. Enjoy games, cards, Wii Bowling, fun crafts, guest speakers, and more. Plus, discover all sorts of helpful library resources and programs available to you.

Reading becomes a favorite treat as we explore early literacy through stories, songs, and a simple craft. This free program for the whole family is designed to provide kids a foundation for kindergarten and to offer a fun, safe space for children of all ages to learn, socialize, and play. We strive to create fun and rich experiences that build a love of books, libraries, and learning that will stay with children for a lifetime.

Get active and stay strong...

Join us every week for a full-body strength-training session using resistance bands. This class is specifically designed to help older adults build and maintain strength for overall health or improved body composition. Instructor Hannah Southard will adjust the workout as needed to accommodate the individual strength levels and requirements of participants.

Please note:

• Wear clothing that will be comfortable for a light workout.
• Bottled water will be provided.
• Before you start any exercise program, it is recommended that you check with your physician.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Originally from Northern Ireland, Hannah Southard came to the United States in 2017 for a tennis coaching internship. She discovered that her passion for fitness expanded beyond tennis, and she became a NASM-certified personal trainer. After moving to Kentucky, she also got certified as a yoga instructor and a precision nutrition coach. Hannah has experience training people of all ages and aims to make fitness fun while creating an enjoyable and sustainable healthy lifestyle for everyone! 

Stretch it out...

Increase flexibility, relieve sore muscles, and rejuvenate your body! Join Donna to jumpstart your day with a low-impact exercise class designed to engage all the major muscle groups through gentle stretches and balancing techniques. This is a beginner-friendly class; a chair will typically be used for support.

Donna Hall is a beloved member of our Hillview Branch Library staff. She has 17 years' experience as a practitioner along with intermittent teaching experience, including work as a substitute instructor at the YMCA.

Meet fellow anime enthusiasts and geek out over your favorite series! Discover new shows together, try tasty anime-themed treats, and enjoy fun crafts and activities inspired by anime, manga, and Japanese culture. After all, every anime fan knows adventures are better with friends and subtitles!

Exciting art-ventures for all...

Dive in for a creative evening of art appreciation and exploration! Using a variety of mediums, create a different work of art at each monthly session—from painting and sculpture to mixed media and beyond. Whether you enjoy making an awesomely creative DIY project or prefer to make a fun, functional art piece, there will be something for every artist to enjoy. Expect things to get a bit messy, so dress accordingly and prepare to unleash your creativity in a fun, supportive environment.

Psst... This is a great event for family bonding or for getting creative with friends, providing a free space where you can try something new together without worrying about the cleanup. It's about the process, not the product (though we think the projects are pretty neat!).

Nonfiction is far from boring! Join us to explore fascinating true stories, eye-opening studies, and other thought-provoking reads on the third Thursday of the month. We'll keep things interesting with a variety of nonfiction writing, including biography and memoir, history, popular science, and current events.

Psst... Book copies will be provided to registered participants!

A whole latte fun...

Join us every Friday for a good cup of coffee, great conversation, and more! You can mingle with peers, read the newspaper, work on a puzzle, play a game, share stories, or ask questions about technology.

Take a new craft-cation every month...

Need a place to get away and get your craft on? Join us on the third Friday of the month for CrafterSpace! Bring your current project to the library or raid our supply cart to start something new. We will provide a spacious and relaxing environment where you can spread out and explore your creative side.

Plus, meet other craft enthusiasts, share inspiration and tips, practice new techniques, and swap supplies with other crafters (but only if you want)!

Available equipment will include:

• Cricut press and press pad
• Hot glue gun
• Sewing machine
• Woodburning tools
• Other various tools and supplies for jewelry making, painting, paper crafts, and more!
