ABOUT THE COWGIRL SMARTS TEAM

Ellen Reid Smith is the author of Cowgirl Smarts, which aims to help readers "get cowgirl smart" through the stories of real cowgirls from the Wild West and early rodeo days. She loves to combine her work as a Fortune 100 company executive, an internationally published author, and two decades of customer loyalty and marketing consulting experience with her passion for cowgirl history.

Vera Frazier, aka “The Spirited Horse Woman,” is an award-winning trainer who started her own horse training business at the age of 18. Based on her experience with rescued/rehabbed horses and after adopting Hazelnut, she developed a speaking business to share her “Life Lessons from Hazelnut” with teens and adults.

Hazelnut was a wild, two-year-old mustang on the BLM range when Vera adopted her. Today, that enthusiasm along with her natural intelligence and curiosity have helped her to become an award-winning competitor and "the best liberty and trick horse" Vera has worked with.  Follow Hazelnut on Instagram.
