Nonfiction is far from boring! Join us to explore fascinating true stories, eye-opening studies, and other thought-provoking reads on the third Thursday of the month. We'll keep things interesting with a variety of nonfiction writing, including biography and memoir, history, popular science, and current events.

Increase flexibility, relieve sore muscles, and rejuvenate your body! Join Donna to jumpstart your day with a low-impact exercise class designed to engage all the major muscle groups through gentle stretches and balancing techniques. This is a beginner-friendly class; a chair will typically be used for support.

Donna Hall is a beloved member of our Hillview Branch Library staff. She has 17 years' experience as a practitioner along with intermittent teaching experience, including work as a substitute instructor at the YMCA.

Take a new craft-cation every month...

Need a place to get away and get your craft on? Join us on the third Friday of the month for CrafterSpace! Bring your current project to the library or raid our supply cart to start something new. We will provide a spacious and relaxing environment where you can spread out and explore your creative side.

Plus, meet other craft enthusiasts, share inspiration and tips, practice new techniques, and swap supplies with other crafters (but only if you want)!

Available equipment will include:

• Cricut press and press pad
• Hot glue gun
• Sewing machine
• Woodburning tools
• Other various tools and supplies for jewelry making, painting, paper crafts, and more!

Level Up is your crash course in real-world wins—money, meals, mindset, and more. Each session tackles a new life skill with fun, hands-on activities and local experts (no boring lectures here). Whether you’re getting your first paycheck, moving out, or just figuring things out, we'll help you crush your goals, build confidence, and move into adulthood... or at least become a slightly more adulty adult along the way. 😅

Regular yoga is so intimidating—try chair yoga!

Start your week well with "choga" fun and relaxation with certified instructor Sara Stearns of Derby City Yoga.

Now you can enjoy a gentler yoga workout without becoming an arm-and-leg pretzel. This low-impact version is performed with a chair for support, making it perfect for a beginner or someone with difficulty balancing. Some individuals in wheelchairs may also be able to participate; please consult your doctor first if you have medical questions or concerns.

Bring the kids, the grandparents, your siblings, or whoever you like for a night of lively competition and AWESOME PRIZES. At this program, luck’s always on your side because (1) it’s a fun social night for all and (2) everybody wins! Even if you don't win, you can still pick one of our consolation prizes at the end of the program.

Plus—BONUS!!!—bingo is excellent reinforcement for kiddos learning their letters and numbers or practicing social skills like listening, sportsmanship, or following directions.

Book lovers unite on the 4th Monday of the month! Join us for a relaxing evening at the library to discuss our latest book selection chosen by the group. Each meetup will be a new experience and you never know what will happen—you might get to lead the discussion (but only if you want!), or a special guest might make an appearance!

BONUS ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:

• Readers receive a copy of the book to keep!
• Movie nights! If a movie adaptation of our selected titles exists, a film viewing will be scheduled a few days after our regular meeting.

Join us to help your little one start their early-learning adventure! Toddler Storytime for ages 0 to 2 is designed to help lay the foundation for lifelong learning through a combination of stories, songs, and play.

Children learn language by listening to others talk, and stories and songs help them learn how language sounds, add new words to their growing vocabulary, and begin to understand what words mean. Play helps children express themselves and put thoughts into words as they explore the world around them and build early social skills through interactions with other children.

Join our introvert happy hour! Bring your current book and spend time reading with fellow book lovers every Tuesday evening. You can socialize your way with no need to finish a specific book or weigh in on a group discussion.

Psst... We'll set the cozy atmosphere with dimmed lights, calming music, and a selection of warm beverages including coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. To create the ultimate cozy space for yourself, you are welcome to bring a pillow and blanket.
