Join our introvert happy hour! Bring your current book and spend time reading with fellow book lovers every Tuesday evening. You can socialize your way with no need to finish a specific book or weigh in on a group discussion.

Psst... We'll set the cozy atmosphere with dimmed lights, calming music, and a selection of warm beverages including coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. To create the ultimate cozy space for yourself, you are welcome to bring a pillow and blanket.

Book lovers unite on the 4th Monday of the month! Join us for a relaxing evening at the library to discuss our latest book selection chosen by the group. Each meetup will be a new experience and you never know what will happen—you might get to lead the discussion (but only if you want!), or a special guest might make an appearance!

BONUS ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:

• Readers receive a copy of the book to keep!
• Movie nights! If a movie adaptation of our selected titles exists, a film viewing will be scheduled a few days after our regular meeting.

Join us to help your little one start their early-learning adventure! Toddler Storytime for ages 0 to 2 is designed to help lay the foundation for lifelong learning through a combination of stories, songs, and play.

Children learn language by listening to others talk, and stories and songs help them learn how language sounds, add new words to their growing vocabulary, and begin to understand what words mean. Play helps children express themselves and put thoughts into words as they explore the world around them and build early social skills through interactions with other children.

Bond with your baby and meet new friends during this special storytime designed for our youngest patrons and their caregivers. Bounce, wiggle, and giggle together as you share short books and learn rhymes, songs, and fingerplays that nurture language skills and foster brain development. Plus, enjoy tummy time and targeted activities designed to stimulate your child's senses.

Each session offers literacy tips and strategies to promote social, motor, and early-literacy skills.

Need a place to hunker down and actually get things done? Settle in on the fourth Wednesday of each month for a dedicated time to focus, collaborate, and recharge. Think soft music, warm lighting, and plenty of space to study or simply breathe between assignments. Whether you’re cramming for a quiz, working on a group project, or wrapping up homework, it's the perfect atmosphere to stay productive (and feel good doing it).

Join us to learn a new game or develop your Dungeons and Dragons skills further! Dungeons and Dragons is a tabletop game that focuses on collaboration, creativity, imagination, and teamwork. You will be able to build your character then jump into the storytelling and roleplay realm.

Increase flexibility, relieve sore muscles, and rejuvenate your body! Join Donna to jumpstart your day with a low-impact exercise class designed to engage all the major muscle groups through gentle stretches and balancing techniques. This is a beginner-friendly class; a chair will typically be used for support.

Donna Hall is a beloved member of our Hillview Branch Library staff. She has 17 years' experience as a practitioner along with intermittent teaching experience, including work as a substitute instructor at the YMCA.

Get active and stay strong...

Join us every week for a full-body strength-training session using resistance bands. This class is specifically designed to help older adults build and maintain strength for overall health or improved body composition. Instructor Hannah Southard will adjust the workout as needed to accommodate the individual strength levels and requirements of participants.

Please note:

• Wear clothing that will be comfortable for a light workout.
• Bottled water will be provided.
• Before you start any exercise program, it is recommended that you check with your physician.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Originally from Northern Ireland, Hannah Southard came to the United States in 2017 for a tennis coaching internship. She discovered that her passion for fitness expanded beyond tennis, and she became a NASM-certified personal trainer. After moving to Kentucky, she also got certified as a yoga instructor and a precision nutrition coach. Hannah has experience training people of all ages and aims to make fitness fun while creating an enjoyable and sustainable healthy lifestyle for everyone! 

DID YOU KNOW? Every 2 seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood...

Blood donors help save the lives of people of all ages every day, including burn victims, heart surgery and cancer patients, trauma victims, and many others. BCPL is partnering with the American Red Cross to provide a safe, relaxing, and convenient location to donate blood. You can make a difference by giving a small part of your day to join us. Whatever your blood type may be, all types are valuable and can help save lives.

For ages 16 and up.
Donors under the age of 17 must have a signed parental consent form to participate. Donors ages 16 or 17 MUST show a form of ID that includes their birthdate.

Please bring your donor card, driver's license, or two other forms of identification. Be prepared to list all of the over-the-counter and prescription medications you are currently taking.

Additional tips for the day of your donation:

• Drink an extra 16 oz. of water (or other nonalcoholic drink) before your appointment.
• Eat a healthy meal, avoiding fatty foods like hamburgers, fries, or ice cream.
• Wear a shirt with sleeves that you can roll up above your elbows.
• Let us know if you have a preferred arm or particular vein that has been used successfully in the past to draw blood.
• Relax, listen to music, talk to other donors, or read while you donate.
